New Metallica Lyrics Sum up my feelings of work lately

“This day drifts on inside a fog
it’s thick and suffocating”

An old poem

without comments

Branches-04/27/08

the branches that hung
each bending so low
from a fierce mid-spring storm
and the ice and the snow
are now lifted up
restored to their glory
by the late evening sun
and it’s soul warming story.

Observations from today

without comments

So here are a couple of things that stuck in my mind from today.

#1- At 6:40am this morning when the alarm went off and I rolled over to look out the window, welcomed by the site of…well the site of a pitch dark night, I officially kicked of my day by thinking that my alarm clock was set to the wrong time because it was way too dark still to be almost 7:00am.

#2- The current economic situation in the world today has people scared out of their minds about what will happen and has the average person handling their finances 2-3 times more conservatively than they normally would. Personally, while I struggle with these same issues, feel that it is actually a good and very much needed trend. Hopefully we can all look back at this time as the turning point that may help deflate the current and absurd inflation on the price of everything. *this is me trying to find the silver lining in the storm cloud*

#3- The fall weather was strange today. Being so overcast that it seemed like the sun just never really came up all the way, yet still bright enough that it didn’t feel like it was late evening at high noon. There was a lot of wind that had that mischievous feeling that it could just be speeding a little snow our way soon.

#4- The local Wal-Mart did not fail to produce the usual “interesting” encounters. This evenings trip highlighted by a young man being “walked” by a young woman. Yes, this is complete with him wearing the collar and leash, with her controlling him by maintaining a tight reign on said leash.

#5- As I watch the Vikings play on Monday Night Football I am experiencing a contradiction of emotion. On one hand I really want them to win as I am a lifelong fan of our Vikings, yet by winning it is causing me to lose what was a very, very close match-up this week in my fantasy football league. In the end I wanted the Vikings to win, but needed their defense to have a horrible game in order to pull out the win.

#6- I am 100% sick of hearing about the upcoming election. Period.

Halftime is almost over! Go Vikes!

So what’s new world?

with one comment

After a dismal summer of writing for me I suppose I should start getting back into practice.

Most of my free time the last few months has been spent at weddings, band gigs and working on my photography. I am currently working hard trying to capitalize on the amazing fall colors and great weather, as well as getting more of my shots ready for print-through my upcoming website and through another book project or two. The website project is a little ways out-probably within a year if all goes well-but I hope to get it up and running so that I can share my passion for photography with all of you.

In more important news than my boring hobbies, things are going great in the baby department! I can say that because as the father-to-be, I haven’t had to deal with any of the miserable stuff, like sickness, being overly exhausted, etc… My amazing wife has been a trooper and even while feeling sick and all of that fun stuff, I know that she is super excited also. For those of you that know me, you will know that saying I am pretty laid back and patient is an understatement, but the wait to meet my very first child is really pushing my limits with being patient. It feels like it is such a long wait, but at the same time we are already about half way there!

The best part, so far, is that I was finally able to feel the baby move. Even though I wasn’t sure that I actually felt what I did when it happened. We were laying in bed the other morning and I just had my hand resting on my wife’s stomach and all of a sudden, while dozing away, I thought I felt a little bit of a flutter under my hand. While light and quick, it was still really cool. Now I am just waiting for my wife to start showing more, then I can start getting some of those cliche, yet memorable photographs to share with some of you!

Anyhow, I know it isn’t much of an update in terms of length but that is about all I have been up to lately. Time to go work on another image or two and then get to bed for another exciting week in the world of banking. As you can imagine it has been “just terrific”, what with all the recent goings on in the financial world right now. I shouldn’t complain though, the pay is decent and my job as of right now seems to be secure, which is a good thing.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. As you all know the new Metallica album was released a couple weeks ago and I am happy to say that after a handful of complete listens through I do enjoy it quite a bit. Much better than the last outing from the guys. So far I think some of my favorite tunes come from the middle of the album, tracks 4 through 7 or 8, but the rest is very good as well.

Take care until next time we meet…
